The Goodness of Life

As I sit here on this grey Sunday morning, coffee in hand, looking out my window at the gorgeous fall colours on my absolute favourite street in the entire city, I am struck by how good life is right now.

It was a CBG away weekend, and I told my girls that they could each have a friend over for a sleepover. And it was fun! There was plenty of junk food, giggles, and fun girly times. My girls are still at an age where hanging out with their mom for a sleepover isn’t lame. I’m going to enjoy it while it lasts, since I know that Kiddo in particular is soon heading down the pre-teen road, when Mom will only be the provider of snacks who disappears the rest of the time.

Tonight CBG arrives back home and we launch into another week. Life is busy — insanely so — but it’s good to have a partner in crime here with me to help with the busy-ness.

What I love most is the fact that life isn’t perfect…and yet still so happy at the same time. Happier than I ever thought that it would be. It’s hard not to hold my breath, waiting for it to come to an end.

For now I will continue to breathe…and smile.

And count my many, many blessings.
